How are core outcome sets developed?
Core outcomes have to be relevant to all key stakeholders, including patients, healthcare professionals and researchers and need to be agreed upon by all these groups. The aim is for the core outcome set to be used widely in all future research studies in Caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy to make research conclusions easier to draw and reliable. This study will be carried out over a strict timeline to ensure we can publish the results in a timely manner to allow us to start improving patient care.
1
Review and interviews
Finding out what outcomes researchers currently use by scoping the current literature and by talking to patients about what outcomes matter to them.
2
Long listing
Creating a list of outcomes, which is then reviewed by the steering committee, including women with Caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy.
3
Round 1
The long list of outcomes is sent to all stakeholders: patients, healthcare workers and researchers to vote through an online survey.
4
Round 2
The long list of outcomes is sent to all stakeholders again in a second online survey to develop a consensus on which outcomes are important
Stakeholder consensus meeting
The steering group review the final list of core outcomes thought to be potentially important and the final list of core outcomes will be born!
5
Dissemination
The core outcome set is published and the findings will be disseminated. All future research in Caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy will adopt it.
